The Gibson Girl Introduced Silk Tartan Purses
Alexandria, VA (PRWeb) February 6, 2007 -- Following its successful launch this past September, The Gibson Girl introduces a line of Tartan Bags, according to designer, Jillian Gibson of Alexandria, Virginia. The Tartans join the other lines of purses from The Gibson Girl for Special Occasions, the Holidays and Weddings. The original Gibson Girl, a creation of early 20th Century painter/illustrator, Charles Dana Gibson, was the model of femininity and sophistication in the early 1900s.
"Being of Scottish descent, I've always worn my family's Buchanan tartan proudly," Gibson says. "I was excited to see that tartans are making a return so I found a shop in Scotland that carries a use some tartans that aren't seen very often. I'm amazed at how many different plaids there are, even within the same clan."
The line includes silk purses from the Kennedy, Buchanan, Ross, and Robertson clans, as well as bags constructed of a contemporary tartan called The Flower of Scotland.
Bags measure approximately 8" x 8" and are designed to hold a small wallet, cell phone, reading glasses, keys and a comb.
Like the original Gibson Girl Special Occasion, Holiday and Bridal bags, the Gibson Girl Tartans are custom-designed and hand-crafted by Jillian Gibson.
